Islands Summer Softball
Organized by the Grand Isle Recreation Department the Island Summer Softball League holds games on Sundays with games starting at 2 pm, 4 pm, and 6 pm. There are 9 regular season games through Aug. 16. Playoffs will be held Aug. 23, 2026.
Week 3 – July 5, 2026

And the season moves on, a third of the regular schedule finished. Thanks to the umps, y’all are helping to keep everything flowing smoothly and quickly.
The Ball Busters played the Stop, Drop and Roll team at 2 PM. Maddox Hoffman made a return to the league this weekend and homered! Josh Emmons had two, one being inside-the-park. Bridget Kerwin had two monster hits and Jaxston Pierce had his first game pitching. Meanwhile, SD&R’s Joe Clark pitched five innings and made a number of heads-up play on defense. Adam White had two doubles and the sole RBI for the red squad, but they lost to the BBs 29-1.
The Sandbar Sluggers and Teal Team Six, both undefeated, played at 4 on D1. TT6 got a fast start to the day, plating eight in the first inning, but the Sluggers got their gloves going after and slowed them down. Captain Matt Kemp and Noah Borden both homered twice, but all came on empty bases. Captain Jake Frederick and Chris Major also each got two dingers, and 3B Jim Tudhope got one, but with better or luckier timing as more players were on base at those times. TT6 took the win, 16-5.
On the other side, The Green Team in Pink and the Islanders played on D2. The GTiP had a strong first, with three runs. Islanders came back with a grand slam in the bottom of the first. The Green Team’s Nate Yandow had two homers snatched away at the fence, but the whole pink squad played great defense to keep it close. Jack Lambert played great defense for the Islanders, and Ryan Cameron, Kody More and Dustin LaBonte all went yard (Dustin with a grand slam), and took the game 14-9.
At six, old rivals Low Expectations faced off with the Sons of Pitches. It was a battle. The Expectations got off to a quicker start. Ed Lockerby had two three-run blasts. Samantha Harris and Destinee Peterson (at 2B and 3B, respectively) absolutely played lock-down defense. But the SoPs came back hard in the sixth inning. Cole Riskin and Joe Lander both had homers as the team rallied up. In the end, Low Expectations held them off and got their first win on the season, 11-9.
Finally, D2 saw the now-officially-named Carolina Blue squad take on the KBV Green Machine, with CB still undefeated and KBV GM hot off their first win. Carolina Blue were down a few players due to injury and absence, but Macey Shappy, after getting injured in her first at-bat, ended up with a startling six RBIs, and Austin Menard also had a dominating game, hitting three homers (one of them an inside-the-park one). For the Machine, Levi Kraemer hit a three-run dinger to make the game close. Both teams had a lot of great defensive plays. The CBs ended up on top, 18-10, to go to 3-0 on the season.
Week 2 – June 28, 2026

The season is getting hot already, and not just in the sunlight. A lot of tremendous ball was played, and fun was had all around. The umps continue to do a great job keeping the flow going, and new faces and old alike show joy – what more can we all ask for?
The early game had two teams play some ferocious ball to get their first win. Low Expectations fought hard, getting a lead in the bottom of the first off a Steve Joachim grand slam homer. Erin Prouty and Ed Lockerby both had several hits, and Samantha Harris was a defensive standout at 2B. But the Green Team (presented by the color Pink) celebrated P Colin Masseau’s birthday in style. He led the way with 2 shutout innings and a perfect 5 for 5 at the plate, Amanda “Sugarbush Slugger” Schirmer had a 2-run homer, and Lucas “The Admiral” Campbell got an inside-the-park grand slam, all on the way to a 32-10 triumph for the pink Greens.
The games at 4 were also heated. On D1, Stop, Drop & Roll took on the KBV Green Machine. SD&R finally started to catch “fire” (obligatory firefighter pun!) both from the plate and in the field in this game, taking the lead in the bottom of the first when Drew Bahrenburg hit the first of his two homers to right, scoring Kristin Todd and Adam White. But the Machine is starting to hum. Homers from Austen Paradee and Levi Kraemer and a solid team defense built a lead that not even a late comeback from the SD&R crew could overtake. The Green Machine won 20-14 in five innings, to get their first win on the season.
Meanwhile, D2 saw a remarkably fast seven-inning contest between Teal Team Six and The Islanders, in the first unbeaten matchup of the year. Tight defense was played by both teams, but TT6 kept eeking out runs at a slightly higher rate. The Islanders led a strong seventh inning rally, plating four, but ran out of outs. It wasn’t enough to overcome Jim Tudhope doing his best Superman impression, with three (!) homers going along with a tremendous defensive showing at 3B. TT6 goes to a 2-0 record on a 13-9 win.
Finally, 6 PM, and two more hot matchups. The contenders of Sons of Pitches and Sandbar Sluggers faced each other on D1. Mark St. Francis hit a dinger and pitched a complete game, giving up only four runs through the first six innings. Cody Groll and Kayden Martello each went yard, and Matt Kemp did it twice! But the SoPs are never out of a game. Cole Riskin hit two homers, Drew Steady hit one in the final inning to close the gap and Melissa and Shawn Steady were dervishes on the base paths. The Sons put a scare into the Sluggers in the seventh, but could not complete the comeback, and the Sandbar kids won the game 15-9 (and are now 2-0).
D2 saw Carolina Blue take on the defending champs, The Ball Busters. The BBs showed their customary prowess in the field, especially Bridget Kerwin, Emma Sabourin, Will Leduc and Greta Kerwin (who remained in the game at first despite an injury). Kurt Hoffman took the mound for all seven innings despite being out of position, and got a three-run homer to tie the game. This Carolina Blue team is a defensive monster though, and Lindsay Stanhope and Nate Crowley were first among equals, leading the Blue to a 17-10 victory.
